Fall 2003 Update: A Time of Transition
by Kathryn Holt
Autumn represents a time of change. Those of you who are ‘nesters’ may find yourselves intuitively un-cluttering your surroundings as you contemplate what to keep, what to let go of, and what changes need to be made to create a more appropriate and supportive living space. This is the ideal season for it.

The energy in nature is moving from peak Yang (or, Yang~Yang), to a calmer yet still active energy (Yang-Yin).  We know through Feng Shui that once energy has peaked, it begins to descend downwards again, making way for a more subtle Yin energy to emerge.

It is important to be mindful of what the energy is doing during a particular season so that you can align yourself accordingly.  Since this time of year symbolizes change and shift it is the ideal time to do related activities.  For instance: take time to re-evaluate your life (and your life’s aspirations), lighten your load from anything or anyone who does not support your highest well-being.  Consider updating your home either through new wall color or by focusing on your Creativity Area.

The West: Metal/lake/evening/autumn

When it comes to your ‘Creativity Area’ (located in the West sector of your home), think about the BIG picture.  This area is all about you ~ your life, your lifestyle, your livelihood.  Make it a true reflection of you and what’s important to you.

Idea: This is a perfect place for black & white photos in metal frames that depict what you want to create/manifest in life.

Take a look at your Creativity area right now.  What is the energy saying?  And, more importantly, what do you want it to say?  Could it be time for an update?

Because change of any kind can be uncomfortable, stressful, even paralyzing for some people, it’s good to keep in mind:
That for better or worse, things right now are only temporary. Change is in the future.  Try to go with the flow…
1. Be gentle with yourself during stages of transition.  Allow yourself time to process what you’re experiencing.
2.
Change can be an indicator that the past no longer fits and that the future is on its way but hasn’t arrived yet.

You may feel apprehensive during this phase and want to move through it as quickly as possible. This tactic is actually a form of resistance (you’re blocking the ch’i from being able to unfold on its own). Unfortunately it may only serve to delay things.

Feng Shui for the Future

The energy that surrounds & supports you is not just changing seasonally, but Universally as well.  Beginning Feb. 4, 2004 we move from an ‘Age’ (or period) 7, to an Age 8.  The good news is, this is considered to be the most auspicious period of all the 9 cycles.

Background ~

Each of the nine cycles lasts 20 years.  As just mentioned, the current Age is 7 and began on February 4, 1984, and will run through February 3, 2004.  Age 8 will run from February 4, 2004 through February 3, 2024. How this effects your particular structure is determined by your home’s alignment & the year your house was built.*

By obtaining this information you can create a ‘natal chart’ for your house which will reveal the position of all of the stars and their related energies (good or bad) within in your home for the next twenty years.  (This includes identifying the Stars that should be activated for increased luck, as well as identifying the unfavorable Stars to be offset elementally.)

In short, you may find your luck changing (for better or worse), as we enter the new period and the energy within your home shifts as a result.

Creating a natal chart for your home (or business) is known as, ‘Flying Star’ Feng Shui.  It is a more complex system than Compass School but it offers useful information to add to and supplement your pre-existing knowledge.

As most of you know from taking my classes, there are many layers to Feng Shui.  And this is an instrumental one, especially with the onset of a new Period.  Yes, an advanced class will most likely be offered on Flying Star next year, or you can schedule a Flying Star assessment through me.  Or, check out Eva Wong’s book on your FSR book list.

Until then, take this time of transition to become clear on what you really want to create for yourself for the future, then put it out into the Universe via: your Creativity sector, your personal intent, and, of course, a well-supported home.  Make everything you do a positive extension of you.
